;DI got some more red rumps on the weekend. This is one pair of of opalines.. I got this opaline cock to, the hen got away when we were transfering her to the carry cage! What a bummer! She was a cinnamon!! Beautiful to!! This is Turvey, he is a platnum blue pied??(father platnum, mother blue pied) Only about 6 weeks old. Funny little guy I not sure if he has a defect with his neck, he turns his head upside down ALOT! He was a freeby! Although watching him today he isnt too bad?! Very quiet little fella, I am going to keep him as a pet. You can just put your hand in and pat him, he sits on your hand, so quiet!! I am really disapointed about not getting the parents!! A woman was there to only buy for colour in her avairy, and when i lost the cinnammon hen she said she would take the opaline cock and I could have the platnum and pied blue, then she turned around when the opaline was in her cage and said she was taking them to!! B*#ch!!! I also got a new split pied Kaki hen will get some pics soon.

He looks like a head trauma case, maybe some damage done to his brain. I'd leave it open for more experienced people to comment but that's my opinion. I hate it when it's an open sale...and people can't make up their minds They are really nice birds...I want to sell my birds and concentrate on red rumps but no one wants my scarlet and turq I'd go a Lutino hen maybe with that beautiful boy and see how they go...others may say something else better !

A hen?! Ok how do you tell that?? I need a bit of help in all this, lol And yes I think Turvey must have some kind of head trauma to. Maybe being a baby left the nest too early and crashes on her little head! but she is eating well and gets about ok, so I'll keep it as a pet.

my handraised cinnamon does crazy things with her head too, she also lays on her back and wiggles her legs in the air. There might not be anything wrong with her she may have just discovered she can do that !!! Although it does seem a lil extreme.

Oh ok, Thats good to know that someone elses bird is a bit crazy to.lol. I hope there is nothing wrong, she eats easily and drinks. Its not all the time that she hold her head like that, maybe she just likes to see the word upside down?? I named her Turvey short for Topsy Turvey, lol. Oh and I blame everyone on this site that owns redrumps for my liking for them, hehehe Never knew anything about them till I joined here!

A hen?! Ok how do you tell that?? I need a bit of help in all this, lol Her dad is Platinum which is sex linked, so that means all his daughters will be visually Platinum. Correct me if i am wrong, but Pied Redrumps are ADM Pieds (anti dimorphism pied) meaning, the red rump of the cock is taken away and both sexes look alike

Oh ok thanks Jeremy, I have no idea, as i said I am learning about all this!! If I paired her with a opaline cock what would be the outcome?? Also I wonder if the head thing is hereditery?? Thanks Amanda for letting me put some of the blame on you,LOL

I'm not too sure about Pied Red Rumps, are they dominant or recessive Pieds?
If the bird is a Green/Blue Platinum Pied, with an Opaline Cock, you would get:
Assuming Pied is dominant Green/Platinum/Opaline Cocks Green/Blue/Platinum/Opaline cocks Green Pied/Platinum/Opaline Cocks Green Pied/Blue/Platinum/Opaline Cocks Green Opaline Hens Green/Blue Opaline Hens Green Pied Opaline Hens Green Pied/Blue Opaline Hens

Ok, just found out Pied is recessive, in that case, you would get:
Green/Platinum/Opaline/Pied Cocks Green/Blue/Platinum/Opaline/Pied cocks Opaline/Pied Hens Opaline/Blue/Pied Hens
