Install a sprinkler in the inside of the avairy on the roof... set it to mist... And when it is hot give her a shower Nat... That is just an idea...

I use a fan to circulate the air around. My little one is the only one that feels the heat first, they all seem to tolerate it a bit more. I remember many years ago when the bug started to hit, we went to a pet store where we were visiting rellies and they had a hand raised Kaka and we fell in love instantly. Unfortunately that one was sold and I hadn't seen another one since. That was about 6 years ago so I wasn't going to let Pepper go!!!! They are a very hard bird to find hand raised, I'd say once you find a breeder put an order in for one. They are a very popular bird

I have her inside now so a sprinkler isnt a good idea ,LMAO!! We have VERY strict water restrictions here also. So wouldnt be able to do the sprinkler thing unfortunately ( cant even wash your car!)! I make sure all my other birds have plenty of water in their dishes so they can bathe when ever they want to. I bought her inside cause she was in with the red rumps and I was worried they might attack her, so went out and bought a $180 cage for her yesterday!!! Spoilt!! I am wanting to tame her, don't know if I will be able to?? She is about 3 years old I think?? How do you all think it will go???

with time, patience and the right bribes she may come around! I know of so many people who have aviary birds who come up to the wire for kisses and treats (my red rumps do that too) so it can't be much harder. The hardest part is to get her to trust the hand!

yeah i think that will be the tester, the hand thing. See how it goes anyway. my red rumps are soooo flighty I couldnt imaginge them doing that!!! Dont know what the old owners did to them? Terribly frightened when you go near the cage! Maybe they were in the petshop too long having little kids hitting the cages or something? Hopefully they calm down.

that sounds like my new pair too. very flighty when your near them. I could say it has to do with your interaction around them ie the more they see of you the less worried they are but that isn't true. We handled our babies and they are very flighty too BTW I bribe Mum and Dad rrump with fresh grass thru the wire, the tummy rules over all in the end!

She's very cute, females have a smaller size beak, which your's looks like. Males beaks are large and seem to cover their face. Kaka's are a very people friendly bird, even without being handraised. I had a pair of red fronted, but a diamond python got into my aviary and ate them. I now have a pair of yellow fronted, that had 7 young which all hatched, still have 5 females left not handraised but are all really friendly also a pair of cinnamon red fronted they have not bred yet. Your new bird will probably tame down by being around you all the time. In my aviary they land on my head, and wait for me to go in and feed them their fruit/veg's every day. If I bypass the cage they all go crook at me. Good luck with your new addition

Pepper is still so tiny too.... it somehow makes her cuter! She is very hyper first thing in the morning, we love to run around on top of our cage and we ran so fast this morning we almost fell off I love their chatter, that's the first thing that attracted me to them all those years ago. I'd love to get more and more and more but I'll really get into trouble! And she loves to nibble, especially finger nails, such a character
