oh! he is gorgeous! looks like you will have years of fun with him! What hand rearing mix are you using? I hope it isn't homemade stuff, I hav heard that can make the birds smaller (stunt their growth) rowdy bush is a great one to use! they grow super fast on that

there is nothing wrong with homemade handrearing mix as long as it is a good recipe. i know other people that use homemade as well.
but i have heard of some people trying to rear baby birds on just egg and biscuit mix, well that isn't enough for them, my opinion.

really? just egg and buscuit? Thats shocking, I know some hand raising mixes dont contain the exact amount of all the good stuff the birds need, because people can not accurately measure the nuetrients!

yes just egg and biscuit mixed with water, i actually still hear about people using just that every so often, and when i tell them it's not enough for them they usually seem shocked, i remember a couple of people saying that they'd been told by a pet shop to use egg and biscuit.

I personally thing roudybush is the best as I have seen the results when feeding that against something else and the birds definately grow faster and feather in better. Personal opinion only.

I don't know what he's being handreared on but I don't think it's homemade stuff. I haven't got him yet, I don't have the time to handrear him myself (wish I did!). I won't get him for another 3ish months, can't wait!!! I can see him when I want to & get pics of him. I was told he was a big healthy boy so maybe he's not on the homemade stuff. Well certainly not on egg & biscuit! Cricket has no idea what's he's in for!! LOL I think he might be ok though. I'm more concerned at the moment about the ekkie learning bad habits of Cricket LOL.
The name is hard. I like Eddie or Alex. I haven't thought of any other names. I'm trying to saty away from the typical ekkie names.

I use roudy bush when ever i can get it... its hard to get sometimes... waiting at the moment for a 6kg bag to come form the usa...I wouldnt be surprised if pet shop ppl told some one to just use egg and biscuit you get some really stupid ppl in pet shops.. last time i was in there some one was asking a shop assitant about hand rearing mix and the pet shop lady said you can just mix it with cold water that it doesnt have to be a certain temperature... i set her straight KIM YOUR ECKIE IS SO CUTE...i like the name eddie too... he looks like an eddie...
