Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a solution to my cat moving her kittens? They are now 3 1/2 weeks old now and every week she wants to move them somewhere else!! She had me up from 3am this morning trying to move them from a nice quiet safe place, to a place that could possibly get them hurt. What can I do?! Any suggestions would be great!

Maybe remove and block off rooms that aren't safe for her. Is she in the house? Her natural instincs are very strong and she will do this all the time until they are old enough to be removed from her or sold. Or maybe a temporary cat run for her and the bubbies to stop her from wanting to take them to dark and bad places. I really don't think this problem can be stopped but trying to prevent dangers is the only way to go.

Is she comfortable having you or anyone else around the her & the kittens? This might be why she keeps moving them. How unsafe is the area that she moves them to? She just may be trying to put them in what she thinks is a safe place away from everything & everyone. Can you make the unsafe area a little safer for her?

I have moved them to the bathroom now that they are up and about a bit more, she seems happy with them there for now anyway. She was trying to move them to the kids bedroom, and considering the youngest one is only 2 yrs old its not a good idea!! She doesn't know how to handle baby kittens as we have never had any before! Plus the place she wanted them could have risked their little heads chopped! In one of the kids wardrobe draws! Ouch if I don't know they are there and get one caught!! She doesnt mind me or the kids being around them. So hopefully she will be happy now

Keep her enclosed in a safe room of the house and keep windows etc closed enough so she cannot get out with them. She is looking for somewhere safe to place them. Try a big box tape up the top and bottom and cut a hole big enough for her to get in and out she is obviously looking for a warm, dry, dark place and safe for her babies. Thats what I would do.

I would suggest you should restrict her to one room in the house that is pretty private... Place one of those puppy crates and make a little box for her and her kittens to hide in. You could even use an old shelf from a cupboard and fill it up with blankets. Preferably give her a box or something similar, so it has a roof over it so she can hide in there and feel secure. Make sure she has her privacy but when you are home you can interact with her and the kittens so they get to know you a bit better hope that helped...

I have already made two boxes put on top of each other with a hole so she can get in and out, but she wasnt happy, but she is now that i have moved it to the bathroom, I have blocked it off with a kiddie gate and cardboard so the kittens can't get out, but she can still get into them, plus they still have their box to sleep in. I think she was looking for somewhere they could start to get out and about from the box. Now they are 4 weeks old they are getting about very easily!! so see how she goes, she seems happy enough for now...................... Thanks for all the advice.
