LOL nope, still heaps more backyard..... must make a makeshift fence out the front too, lots of room there! Darlin sleeps too much nowdays to notice anything really happening around her and Shane's quit caring! He hardly rolls his eyes anymore!

I know It's so heartbreaking watching her stumble everywhere too. But she still responds to you and she definately jumps for her mealworm tub! She sleeps inside of a night time too... how spoilt is she!

Oh they are so cute - what are they?
I had to laugh when I read "I know my mum is going to kill me but ..." - you sound just like me - I am 28 and own my own house and work to pay for all my animals - but each time I get a new pet I buy it first THEN tell my parents - because without a doubt they say "Oh Belinda ... " - glad to hear I'm not alone!

They are Jap Quails. And if anyone In Bundaberg QLD is reading this and tells my Mum I'LL HUNT YOU DOWN! Especially because she doesn't know of 2 of my chooks, Most of my rainbows and a couple of my budgies too! My Mum will just roll her eyes and scould me for buying more birds then go into how difficult it will be when I eventually move etc etc etc! But then she meets them all and falls madly in love with them all. Love my folks and miss them heaps

Nope Mark, over the thousands of years of domestication these birds have lost incubation instinct. Some very rare hens do incubate their own eggs but they are extremely rare. The only way you'll get anything from them is to find another bird that will incubate them or to do it yourself

My uncle and Aunty had one of those freak Jap quail that layed in a nest and sat on its eggs. Weird considering it came from a hatchery originally. Then they ate the babies......d**n Italians...lol.
