I was wondering how to tell the difference between a male and a female?? Also I was wondering is it common to come across pied mutaitons?? I saw a green and yellow pied in a shop recently and don't know if I should grab it cause it is unusual?? And would the pied go through to any babies bred??? Thanks

There are heaps of pieds about. But seeing them in pet shops is rare. I have pieds in peacheys. The only way to tell the next is via habits....

Pieds are very common. Most Peachfaces are dominant pieds so only one parent has to be pied to carry it on to the babies.
Females are usually larger, they will stick nesting material in their rump, their pelvic bones are wider apart than males, they sit on the perch with their legs further apart than males. Not all these are accurate, but they do give you an idea as to what you have

while on the subject of lovebirds questions, does anyone know of a good lovebird breeder especially in the northern suburbs of Melbourne?? It's just that I'm after a bonded pair and one single male but do not wish to go to the petshop
