Today I went to the RSPCA in Fairfield Queensland and came home with a new addition to my family It is apparently a hen I don’t know how old she is or why she was handed in they said she had a wonned on her leg the size of a 10 cent piece but it is all better now She is not tame but not too wild either im guessing she was some ones pet at some stage She is so beautiful my wife and I fell in love with her as soon as we saw her We are not going to name her/him yet until we know for sure on the sex!

She has been there for a while too hasn't she? I think I've seen her profile a couple of times on the RSPCA website. Your such a softie! Just like me....a sucker for a cute face with eyes that say "take me home"

Well we have had him for over 24 hours now and still not a peep out of him he is so quiet it is very surprising just how quiet he is The only noise he makes it a hissing sound when I open the cage/ aviary to give him more seed or fresh water I really wonted one and was saving up to get them as there around $450 a bird H/R Im guessing it is a cock as the cocks have black eyes and the hens have brown eyes But how could you resist the look in his eyes and for the bargain price of $20!!! Is it normal for some of them to be this quiet or will they get noisier as they settle in?

He's great Eagle - gorgeous bird! It's really hard to sex them as they are monomorphic (?? spelling) - like with the pink and greys, etc - in that when they are immature the males and females have the same colour eyes. Even as adults its no sure way to tell. Why don't you pick a "unisex" name for him! Funny story - a friend of mine has a white cockie, called Jake, for about 12 years now. Anyway Jake had been acting up and behaving very strangely for months and then low and behold 'Jake' layed an egg - hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm - and she could have sworn she was a he!! And about him being very quiet - stick around - once he gets comfortable with you guys he should hopefully start learning to talk, but will definately let you know he is there. You have a great bird there that is going to bring you heaps of joy!!! We wanna hear progress reports
