::)My brother found an injured Crimson Rosella the other day, seems his wing is broken. Do you need a licence to keep a Crimson Rosella does anyone know?? I am thinking of taking him if my brother doesnt want him as he prob will never be able to be released back into the wild.

I think that you do need a licence, but it isnt a big problem! amanda would be the one to ask! as rosellas are native i dont think it is a worry if you get the licence in a hurry or not!

well it all depends on who you talk to!Some say you do some say you don't. According to my list they are controlled birds and a license is required BUT on that same list is the adelaide rosella and the Turk parrot so all you really need is a movement advice if your transporting the bird. Being a wild bird I'd go for the license so if anyone questions you you can say that you have a license. If you talk to NPWS they'll say take it to a carer..... just so it can be put down. It's up to him cause he can see how the bird is coping. If it is stressed it might be a good thing to be put to sleep but if it is fine and eating he could give it a great home.

It is eating well and chirping away, seems very happy. Doesnt seem in too much pain at all. Wing is still drooping a bit though. I think he will keep it.

We had a 28 that was hit by a car and he could never fly properly, and he lived a healthy long life in our aviary!

That sounds like he is doing great! If the wing becomes a problem maybe he could pay a vet to strap it but he should do well on his own. He's very lucky to find a good home too

Hi Natenla, you need a licence to keep any of the rosella's. You can get what is called a rescue licence, which will allow you to care for the bird. In some states you are allowed to keep one rosella with out a licence but you need to check the requirements that your state has otherwise if you are caught by the authorities you can be fined big time & they will also take the bird away. Hope that helps & the bird makes a speedy recovery.

If you take the guy to a vet..Beening a wild bird they will fix it for free..If the bird cannot be releasted you will be able to keep the bird..As long as you let the wild life people know..But who knows you got the bird..lol...
