Talk about frustrating.
2 -3 weeks back I gave our Eclectus pair a nest box. CeCe the hen spends nearly all day in there. Yesterday she's on perch standing funny. She's still a tad overweight ( although not as heavy as she once was ) and I felt her vent area and noticed she had an egg. So she climbed into the box and I thought, finally we'll have Ekkie Eggs.Go and check this morning and the crazy girl as gone and laid the egg on the perch. It fell and broke on the bottom of the cage.
Dissapointed but happy she's laying. Gave her a hug and told her I was happy she's laying ( yes I'm ready for a straight jacket )

Bad luck Justin but I'm sure she'll get the hang of it...especially with such loving understanding on your part. with that sort of encouragement she's bound to try to please ;D Although maybe you shouldn't tell her she's a little chubby. Girls tend not to appreciate that sort of thing

d**n, frustrating that is! She may have had a tough time passing it and that is why she laid it from the perch? I hope the next one comes out inside the box for you. Fingers crossed mate.

It's frustrating Matt, but I'm happy I know she's laying. She hasn't laid since. I Just hope she hasn't laid and eaten the egg.
I'm a member on a yahoo group over here and a lady has 2 pair of Palms. 1 pair laid and she put the egg under and Ekkie hen who was laying. She ate both her eggs and the Palm eggs.

I'm sure she will learn. She hasn't laid since so I'm hoping she's not laying and eating the eggs. If she is I've got some nice fake eggs I'd like to see her try to devour.

Check this out....
She laid again.... yep on the perch. One of my White Front Amazon Pairs let their eggs go bad so I got one of the eggs and stuck it in the nest.
Damm bird is sitting on the egg. I'm hoping she'll realise that she needs to lay them in the box.

And thats why god invented incubators! I find holding the bird and squeezy until the egg pops out helps! lol, jj!
Fingers crossed she goes in the nest
