I have no idea about the breeding of the Palms in Australia. I do know several people over here who breed them. They're very expensive running around $15,000 a bird. Same with Red & Yellow Tails, White Tails are very very very rare. Gang Gangs are becoming more avialable.
Most who breed them don't say and usually trade amongst themselves.
As for the Hyacinths. I wish they were available to you guys. Such awesome birds. There was a lady in the Napa Vally up near San Francisco who had 27 pair of Hy's. She also had many other black too's & Green Wing Macaws. She sold them all off in her divorce - my friend got most of her Black Too's & I believe she has cancer the last I heard. It would be a shame for her to pass away as her knowledge on the Hyacinths is like nothing else out there. She's literally an encyclapedia ( did I spell it right??? )

Close Justin, I think it is encyclopaedia...but do not quote me as I have been wrong in spelling before!! Amazing that someone would have so much knowledge and passion for birds like that and sell them all off, such a shame.

Amazing that someone would have so much knowledge and passion for birds like that and sell them all off, such a shame. I don't think she had a choice Matt. Unfortunately with her Cancer It would be impossible for her to continue raising that many. I have some pics on my pc of her baby HY's. I'll find them and post them. A friend of mine bought 2 Palm too's off her. He went to her house and he said you walk in and she had like 20 Baby Hy's on playstands everywhere.

Here is some information Peter... I emailed the Dept of Environment & Conservation and this is what they said...
Stephanie, Both can be kept in WA. Both would require an import licence (fee $20) to bring them in from the east. However, they are kept under differnt licences. The Palm Cockatoo is under an Advanced Avicultural Licence ($20 pa) and the Hyacinth Macaw under a Declared Bird Permit ($30). Hope this helps ya Peter... ;D
