Yes I wouldn't be shy, I would just want to see some of those birds again. I did see quite a few birds I hadnt seen before in Canada at the Niagara Falls aviary, it was a pretty good setup, saw some A .greys and other interesting birds. The funniest part there was the "Australian Singing Crows" which were magpies, I laughed and told them they are never called that in Australia, I have the pamphlet to prove it too!! LOL.

Suckers got the back of my head a few times. I never use to wear my helmet. They had a nest some where near the Moonee Ponds Creek Bike path near my old high school. You would never know they were there until there was this black thing flapping behind you. You know it doesn't seem right having the Magpies in Cages but after getting swooped by one I'd be delighted to see them in cages lol.

They can do some damage, I have seen pictures of peoples heads bleeding and open after a swooping. Maybe your right, they are better off in cages, lol. I do love thier song in the morning though, its such a homey feeling hearing them sing.

Matt,
I do miss the sounds of the Australian birds singing. I've read stories on people having the have eye surgery as a result of a Magpie attack... They do have a great song though.
