So it's tax time over here and our tax return just came in.... so we did what any bird loving person would do....
New flights coming, some more birds.... 1 new pair which will be here in about 6 weeks and a few singles.
We're pulling down our large 24ft flight and selling it to a friend. We're building at the moment some smaller flights that 5ft long 2ft wide & 3ft high. These are for our new Hahns Macaw Pairs - have 5 pairs now and 3 extra males we're still thinking about wether we should pair them up too.
We also got today a Normal Green Cheek Conure - double split to Cinnamon Turquoise & Turquoise. We have a gorgeous Turqouise hen that is rearing to go. We also bout Vincent our 7 year old male African Grey a female. Not sure if they will breed but Vinnie doesn't really care to be handled and is getting into spring behaviour mode. This female is a gorgeous large Grey ( the really light Silve color ) and is very mellow so heres hoping these two do great.
We also put a payment down on a pair of Rare Illigers Macaws. I'm handfeeding the 3 babies from this pair right now & will get the pair in a few weeks.
Also handfeeding/weaning more Congo Greys, 1 lone Timneh African Greys, 5 Sun Conures, 2 White Bellied Caiques & 2 hahns Macaws.
I've also got what I call the "birds from hell". The most obnoxiously loud Hahns Macaws I've ever come across. It's not so much the male - he's kinda mellow. But the female - my god! Talk about wanting to strangle a bird. I know Hahns can get loud but this little witch takes the cake. She knows she's being loud too and she gives me this look like " Go Ahead, I'll bite ya in the balls" everytime you spray her with water. She's indoors right now as her new flight will be ready this week.
Hope all is well down in Australia. Been freezing cold over here. 3 weeks back we had temps get to -7 degrees Celcius at night. I' got up every morning for 6 days to find all the water dishes frozen solid with 3"inches of ice.
I'll post some baby pics tomorrow. I'm stuffed right now. it's late and I'm wanting to sleep but got babies due for a feed in 1/2 and hour...
Have a good one guys!
