I suppose if you build some easily accessible avairies they might keep the hawks away from the REAL birds...(sorry mate, I had to say it ;D )

I wont gang up Matt now....
I will say that I would've done the same thing. I hate the Sparrows around here but found a baby that my dog was "Baby" was about to make a meal of. I raised the little one for a few weeks before it died on me.

How did you end up with them? When the hort team at matt's work were cutting down branches for feeding animals like the elephants etc the found they had cut down the nest with it. They felt bad, and knew due to the laws, that if they were to be handed into the vet department they were legally bound to put them down. That is why they were given to matt. I would never actually kill them. I do however refuse to let them breed, they will remain in our aviary until they die of natural (ie putting a hawke in with them )causes. lol. I think these will be the 50th dove that we have hand reared. We like to palm them off to little people who want a cute pet. And just to justify my rearing of vermin, rainbow lorikeets are considered extreme vermin here, and sulphur crested parrots are "shoot on site" and lastly.......why would anyone not gang up on matt? ? I mean if you just look at him it makes you want to hurt him..........

That's horrible Pete about the Hawks... it's cool that you palm them off to people looking for a cute pet.. Speaking of shooting the Cockatoo's.... You want to get a bunch of American Bird Folk riled up? Get on a Cockatoo group and tell them you shoot the Too's... They'll be drinking your blood and eating your appendages in no time at all. As for Matt... I thought it was the older brother picking on the younger one.... That was the case with me until my brother got a few inches taller than me... You should petition the WA government to have a Statewide ( with the intent to take it nationally ) Pick on Matt Day...
