We Mildred has finally made a nest. Its in a corner I can't get to - and is next to a gate which the ducklings will get through if anything comes of it ... but she's sitting!!

She probably thinks thats the safest place for them. She looks so sweet in the bushes. I hope you get some little ducklings

Well I managed to clear the way somewhat and got a closer look - there is about 5 eggs there. The colour blends with the feathers she has made the nest out of so there could be more. She isn't sitting fulltime though - so she may still be laying?? Meanwhile I now have another chook gone broody .... why do they all turn into cows when they get hormonal ... I just don't understand it .... it's not like its common for females ....

Pffft, ok then....cough. LOL. Bel you need more eggs? And also, that clutch does sound small with the muscovy, usually a few more eggs than that!

Yep ... more eggs would be good. Looks like another one is going down also!!
Gonna have to move them at some stage though - they are all nesting up high ... won't be good for the chicks when they hatch!!
Yeh does sound like a small clutch - but there could very well be more there. I will try and get closer on the weekend. I don't want to scare her off though!!
