Hi everyone, Holly and I were discussing bird recipes and got talking about peanut butter which i know a lot of people give to their birds because they love it so much. Anyway i read somewhere that it was high in salt which we know is very bad for birds. After Holly looked at the ingrediants we found it is also high in sugar. Kraft has 85% peanuts and the rest is oil, sugar and salt. black and Gold brand contains 88% peanuts and the remainder states sugar, salt and vege oil (from SOY) which is not too good for birds either. So just a word of caution that you might consider buying a natural organic type without all the hidden extras or just process some peanuts yourself if you are adding it to birdie treats.

I never give them peanut butter! I have tried it in the H/R mix (the salt reduced one) but I just don't trust anything to be good for us, let alone birds, that has been processed that much Bread, MARGARINE! and other things are just as bad for us! (god help us if we start feeding margarine to our birds!). Heres a friendly fact for yas, margarine is only one small molecule away from being plastic, and is originally BALCK in colour. The producers add yellow colouring to make it like butter!

Eddie only got Peanut butter as a baby (organic) but neither of my boys get it now.
Peter, what about butter? I have butter not marg, I'm glad about that now!!! Marg sounds gross. Oh & Dave LOL said if you look at it that way (1 molecule away from being plastic) water is 1 molecule away from being a bomb (hydrogen-H2O).

Just to see how gross and festy marg is, melt it to liquid. If you do the same thing to butter you can really see the diff.

Butter is alot better for you, it is much more natural, and your body's metabolic system can actually handle breaking it down better!
LMAO bout the H bomb thing! The chemists at uni would slap him if they heard him say that! lol H20 is one atom away from hydrogen gas, which is what they use in the H bomb, not the H bomb its self!
The molecule that makes up plastic is a polymier, mean it is very very very long! kind of like dna is one long molecule (not quite as complex), and for something that long to be only one tiny little bit different from maragrine they share alot of the same properties. Imagine how bad it is for your body trying to deal with such a massive and un-natural molecule
