Hi everyone well it’s that time of year again when I post photos of most of the birds I keep and breed

1 Year old Maroon Belly Conures. They laid 2 eggs this season but they were no good


Mature Breeding Pair of Split Pied Kakariki (1 baby getting H/R at the moment)


Mature Cinnamon Kakariki (these guys developed Scaily Face so they have not bred as I was treating them)


This is my real prolific breeding pair of Split Pied Kakariki they also carry a small amount of yellow on their rumps and back


Mature Breeding pair of Pure 28 parrots I’ve only had these birds 1 month

You got some great looking Flights Mark. Nice and spacious & plenty of sunlight for them. You got some great looking birds too. Nice collection of Lorikeets too. the Lutino Scaley is just beautiful.

I'll post some pics soon of the birds that I'm purchasing at the moment. I should have them home by around Febuary if all goes to plan.

Wow, they're all looking good Mark. That red suffused(for want of a better explanation) 28 hen is unusual. Love the lutino scaley. Do you notice a difference in colour between your red capped hens and cocks? Hopefully they'll breed for you next season.

there is a difference in there colour but there all Hand Raised and DNA sexed so i know 100% that there pairs

Sorry Mark I wasn't implying they weren't known pairs, I was just curious as some hens are as brightly coloured as cocks and was wondering about yours and if you could see a visual difference as sometimes it's nearly impossible. Elmo is nearly coloured up but he's only young so his colour will intensify though I'm not 100% sure he's male, I've just always called him that. Oh and by the way those red rumps are gorgeous. I have a real soft spot for lutino anything

Thats Cool Silvercloud i do notice a difference in the shade of colour in my redcaps even though there H/R the cock birds seem to remail friendler then the hens
But one of the hens has seemed to go through a molt for the past 6 months im going to have to get some vitamins for her to see how it goes as she has looked rough for a while now they have both just turned 3 years old so they souuld be rearing to go next season

My Wife Yvone also loves Lutino birds that is the main reason we have them i hope to get lutino rainbows with in the next 12 months

Mark you have some very nice looking birds there! Good luck in 2008 breeding them, hope it is better than 2007. In regard to the red cap, they sometimes do have a tendancy to experience long moults and often they are really heavy moults. I rekon the best thing to do would be to offer extra food and maybe some suppliments of calcium. One of our birds at work does this and he is in it right now, cant even fly he has that heavy a moult, but it goes on for about 3 months. They do not do anything extra for him though, just wait for it to stop I guess.

I bought the Lutino Scailys for my wife for christmas last yeas as she loves lutino birds and always wonted a pair of Lutino Scailys

They did lay 2 eggs (there first time) this season 1 died in the shell the other died with in hours of hatching im guessing it was because of the dry season both were lutino babys

We also lost due to dying in the shell or with in days of hatching due to the dry weather and the heat
1 x Normal Rainbow (died in shell)
2 x Normal Musk (died at 6 days)
6 x Mutation Scaily (died in shell and babys)
3 x Red Caps (Died in shell)
2 x Blue fronted Rainbows (died in shell)
16 x Kakariki (died in shell)
14 x Cockatiles (died in shell)
2 x Maroon Belly Conures (died in shell)

And there just the ones i can rember
