I aquired 2 galahs last weekend. Fred is at least 9 years old and can talk a little Italian as well as English. He is such a showoff and loves attention. Seems he's taken a real liking to me. I was also given the aviary that Fred was living in as well as his breeding log. The people I got him from have 2 of his offspring but didn't want any more birds and they were worried about Fred not having a mate for this breeding season. The hen was a rescue but I think she was someones pet that escaped or was let go as she can talk a little. I have no idea how old she is but she's a very good size. Haven't got a name for her yet though. I was calling her Wilma like in the Flinstones but it doesn't suit her. She's quite inquisitive but keeps her distance. They look gorgeous.
I miss my Galahs. I thought I was doind the right thing. They were in a patio aviary and My Sisiter and Brother in law wanted them. They had the money to buy a large aviary for them. They didn't secure the aviary properly and they got out.
I miss their company when I am outside. The other interesting thing is that I had no snakes on the back verandah while they were there. They would go right off if anything ventured on their territory. The skinks would ignore them and still come around but I never saw any snakes. Now they are a constant aggravation.
Seeing them makes me quite sentimental. You are very lucky and so are they.

I've got one here but he's a rescue and I'm in the same situation as Renee. Haven't noticed any breeders around but I'll keep an eye out for you Mark.

You know Jules, the one thing that makes me jealous is when I hear about you guys getting Galahs. Don't get me wrong it's awesome that you got them but when we have to pay $3000 for a breeding pair over here I'm like dammm I wish I was back in OZ.

LMAO Justin. Though there's quite a few species you can get much cheaper than we can.
