Ears? What ears Peter? She peeled them off with her voice a while ago LMAO I actually bought a guide to... conures & ekkie books. The conure one is interesting. I gives specific training techniques for sun's to completely stop the noise so I'll be getting stuck into that!!!
I've only had Squash about 4-5 weeks. Adopted from work. She's been moved around a fair bit & needs a good stable home.
She never played until now, so, I'm guessing she's settling. She was a lot worse with screaming when we got her than she is now, however, she still screams LOL or maybe we're just deaf now.
Jules, 'shutup cricket' was the first thing eddie ever picked up! LOL He says it on que too when cricket decides to be noisy.

It's a nightmare when they scream continually. Honestly, people who say it's music to there ears must be completely mad & deaf! LMAO
The golden rule, what everyone says, ignore.....IGNORE at all times with screaming, unless of course you know the cause of the screaming & must attend to it. I have to admit I've on occation forgotten how quiet Squash is being & forgotten to take her out of her cage.
When I come home I walk in, say hello, Squash is always noisy greeting me, then I walk away & give her no more attention until she's quiet. This greeting screaming is becoming shorter & shorter each day so it's working.
They say to talk softly or whisper to them & encourage it when they talk quietly but walk away from any screaming or loud bursts.
Because they scream as their normal communication, the screaming isn't being completely ignored in a way, it's more like they're being taught to replace it with soft talking, so they can still communicate to you.
They do say this can work 100% but takes patients on your part.

My lorikeet screams at everyone to get attention, one day my mum went down and he was screaming at her cause he likes to have arguements with my mum, they are funny to watch... anyway she decided to tell him to be quiet this one day and so he crept up to the cage and started to whisper to her, needless to say she cracked up laughing!! He had never done that before on que like that. And Oscar the sunny we had (we sold him on the weekend ) was a great watch bird! anytime someone would turn up he would squark at them. As do my tiels, let me know when someone is here. ;D

Try walking into our bank of aviaries that have 5 conures in cages next to each other! in the tin surrounding your ears do bleed!
