Hi folks, To those that might not have heard of us, the photos below will introduce us. More photos are in Tinkerbell's webpage www.geocities.com/shanlung9/A love story of me and my Tinkerbell, a free flying Congo African Grey parrot CAG , as we roamed about the mountains and forests and cities of Taiwan. She loves to go riding with me on the motorbike as she sit on a perch on the handle bar. Full details of that and more are in that webpage, together with URLs to the relevant folders of hundreds of photos. Without those photos, what I wrote will never be believed That is the legacy that Tinkerbell will like you to have. That you can also keep a flying parrot.

Peter, But it is within you to do what I have done. Goodbye to dragons shanlung.livejournal.com/65819.htmlHi folks, While I might not have taken active part in your forums, I do write on parrots. One series has been on clipping wings that I extracted into my Livejournal here. shanlung.livejournal.com/65601.htmlI was also fairly active in Wikipedia - African Grey Parrot. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_Grey_ParrotOf greater importance , will be the 'discussion' that you all can go to when you click on the tab 'discussion' at the top or en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:African_Grey_ParrotYou might like to go there to make this to be more reflective and useful to all in the community. Its been a long time I wrote to all since I came over to Brisbane. I disliked staying in hotel and I quickly got a place on a 6 month lease to get out of that hotel. I am now counting down the 3 months left to end of that lease to get a house to stay in. Thats because I am not allowed to have any creatures, furred or feathered. As this place has no balcony either, I am frustrated by calls of rainbow loris, pied magpies, SC2s that sang in trees and ground and I not able to interact with them. So much so that I even befriended the redback under the steps of this leased apartment. In office, I spend my lunch breaks by the side of a creek. There were these 4 water dragons. Eventually I gave them scraps and then I ended up buying kitty kibbles to feed them. My wife came over a couple of weeks last month and took some photos that you can see in www.flickr.com/photos/shimmertje/sets/72157594547160392/Without any other creatures, they became my lunchtime friends, for three months. And in the last week, to the stage that I was able to rub the big alpha queen on her head. She kept the other three some distance away. Then starting from this day Monday, I was seconded to a client and will be working with them on a big project. That meant I will be at their office and no longer going to my old office. While thats exciting to me, I was sadden to say goodbye to the dragons.

I am sure the dragons will miss you to. It is lovely being around wild animals as well as pets as we all here fully understand. Hopefully you might be able to get a house that allows animals soon so you can have the companionship of a pet again. The photos you have taken are very lovely, thankyou for sharing. ;D

Folks, Thank you. I know now how important it is for me that the next lease must be a house with garden AND which allow me to have creatures furred or feathered. My relationship with Tink started in 2002 and as the fulfilment of a desire which began 40 years ago as you might have read in my intro in her webpage. Since then, we been together on a journey more roller coaster than the wildest carnival ride. I am happy to talk of all we have done , in Taiwan a country more beautiful than words can tell. If any of you gone deeper into her webpage , you will find perhaps too much stuff to read. Those were written there and then and with the freshness of memories hours or days old. It will be best to read that rather than for me to write that now with the haze of time covering details. But whats written is a lot , the end result of years of writing. In a nutshell (big nutshell) as to me and Tink, read this summary as well as guide into the world of Tinkerbell the flying grey of Taiwan and the training we did together. shanlung.livejournal.com/8284.htmlIt need not only be a grey that you can do the same kind of journey with. You can do the same with your tiel, your lovie, 2s and I suspect even with your chicken and duck if we do not do them in for that wonderful roast. I assure you that age of bird is very irrelevant. You need not have to get them as babies to bond with them. I have a white rumped shama Yingshiong, a gift from Tinkerbell. He is old when he came to me and a wild caught as well. I recorded on a day by day basis how I fumbled about as I went on to apply Tinkerbell Legacy onto him. Shamas are classified as aviary birds and breeders with decades of experience told me training them will be impossible. The photos below of YS are the first of male shama in the world landing on a human in play or on recall cue. I just cannot think I am that different and special from anyone of you. All I did was to treat them with the respect and dignity due to another sentient creature and accepting full equality. They returned that back to me. Perhaps you might like to read the following URL too, as to why I am now in Brisbane. shanlung.livejournal.com/65169.htmlShanlung
