All 4 of the kookas and the 2 maggies have moved to my house to make room at my fella, John's, place for our latest rescue - a wedge tailed eagle. I'll let you know more when we've assessed him better.

I am in a way jealous! Your so lucky to be able to care for him/her too. If I were closer I'd never leave your place. I could sit and watch them for hours

We think he's been poisoned. The farmers put a poison on the sheep to kill the crows but it also makes larger birds like eagles sick, it affects their nervous system. He has eaten a little bit today which is good and tomorrow we are taking him to Eagles Heritage a raptor rehabilitation centre where he can be better assessed and cared for by specialized raptor carers. For anyone who decides to go to Metricup bird park it's worth making a day of it and going to Margaret River to Eagles Heritage where there are heaps of different types of eagles, owls, kites etc. They also do a live display and talk where you can have a raptor sitting on your arm. When we went last we got to have a brahminy kite on our arm.

We have taken the wedgie to Eagles Heritage where he has much more room to move now that he had recovered some. I seems he may have been hit by a car and badly bruised, we also found a wound on one wing that the vet 'missed' but there doesn't appear to be any broken bones. I bet the vet didn't even look at him properly. We can go and see him whenever we want and when he is released we can be there to see him back to freedom.
