This is a really good one, especially for little dogs or dogs who have been ill! INGREDIENTS * 500g Lean Kangaroo Meat * One tin of Chicken and Vegetable Soup (no noodles)] OR 1/2 cup of chicken stock and 1/2 cup vegetable stock * 250g mixed frozen vegetables * Gravox * 1 and 1/2 cup rice, boil to a slight mash * Extra Virgin Olive Oil METHOD Brown the Kangaroo meat with a little oil, add the soup or stock and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the frozen vegetables and simmer for 10 minutes or until vegetables are very soft. Turn heat down and begin adding Gravox, one tbspn at a time until you get the thickness you like. Allow to simmer for a further 5 mins, take off the heat and add the rice. Allow to cool, then bag the required meal amount into freezer bags and freeze! Can stay frozen for up to 6 months! PS - Not for human consumption, as my poor room mate accidentally found out!

My mum eats roo. I give my cat roo occasionally because she loves it!! Not too much though, it's extremely high in protien which can cause allergies. And it makes her beautiful white fur turn orange!

I love kangaroo! it is apparently one of the best meats for both animals and humans to eat, with fat levels etc. Australia should be farming kangaroos and emus instead of sheep and cattle! they are better suited to the environment, and cost less per head to produce! the export of kangaroo meat to europe has sky rockitted in the last year or so!

Roo is FULL of Protein, that's why it's better to give to fiesty little dogs who move heaps and only in moderation to bigger dogs!! You can supplement the roo meat with Chicken Breast Mince for bigger dogs, or have them both made up in the freezer to give your furry pal a bit of variety!! (That's what I do for my spoilt brat)!

Can't say I've tried it but if it's stronger than lamb (I don't like lamb) then I will definately not go near it!

Much stronger than lamb but it's in the way that it's cooked that make a nice or crap meal out of roo meat. I have to say it's one of the very few things my mum can cook beautifully!! LOLhaven't been game enough to try it myself yet :-)

After reading the BARF book(raw meaty bone diet, you can look it up on the web)I came up with this recipe to keep my girl lab trim. If you are near a Lenard's Chicken shop you can get kilos of pet mince, which is basically raw chicken frames minced. To 1 kilo of pet mince add the juicings and pulp (hopefully you'll have a juicer) of any vege and fruit(apart from onion or orange), I usually use 4 carrots, bok choy(or any leafy green) celery (& the leaves), apple or pear. I then add in 1tbs of garlic (to keep away the fleas) and couple of eggs (for her coat), Barf also suggests raw offal(any blood organ)I tried liver, kidney, heart and brains and unfortunately it was too rich for Lollie, so did without. She is shinier, trimmer and happier on this diet and if you slowly wean your dog off what it has been eating and slowly introduce this diet you will find, it too, can be just as gorgeous as my dog!! By the way their bowel movements will decrease, they will be harder(don't worry it gives the sphincter a good work out)& nearly odorless(I did say nearly)!! At least twice a week I feed her a couple of raw chicken necks or wings(her teeth have never been brighter) ps. I used to make roo tail brawn on the station I worked on and you need one male tail and two female tails which are basically cooked slowly with salt and pepper and then bones removed, allowed to set in the fridge and very nice in a sandwich. Verrrry Nice

I get pet mince from the buthcer but it isnt all the ground up bones and left over cut offs with heaps of fat like most butchers seem to have around here! It is all the really good offal and meat offcuts with fat removed!! Nice and red and they freeze it whent hey make it up so it is nice and fresh and still frozen when you get it! I then add some pasta, rice and chopped up vegies(carrots, peas ect) My dog and cat LOVE it!! As for eating kangaroo, I tried it recently when I went away for a weekend with my boyfriend. it was a kangaroo and pistacio nut salad, and was YUMMOOOO!!! I idnt think it tasted overly strong just like beef to me, but then I did have nearly a bottle of champagne before dinner :-/LOL
