It was sad acually .. ready for a long story ??
Ok, this dwarf bunny had a mate called Tiny. Now Tiny was a little dwarf as well, brown and very cute, huge snuggle bunny. Now they had been seperated for ages in different bird cages and every second day, Tiny was allowed out in the makeshift bunny cage to eat the grass. This one day, Tiny was out, happly eating the grass, when the dogs (Rotty and a malamute(sp?)) Were let out of the pen they were in while the bunny feeds. Well you can only imagine what happend. The owner went out, forgetting about Tiny and the girls in the backyard only to come home an hr later to find him dead. -sniffle- No one is blameing the girls for this as it was human error, they never drew blood, I think they just scared the poor little thing to death. ANYWAYS, It was about a week after this that his mate had the babies .. She ended up having three, being her first litter, she seemed to take a long time and by the end of it all it prolly was about 3hrs. (long time for a bunny to give birth) The first little one was still born, the second lived and the third was still born as well. Im really happy that she had one that lived so we have one of Tiny's babies.
In memory of Tiny.

I have some really sad news about the baby. Just after I posted about how well he was doing, my friend called me. Last night, he wriggled out of the box (I guess I didn't make the lip on it big enough) and died due to the night weather. It was the last of the litter. He wriggled over to the side of the cage and this morning the maggies were at the cage getting to him. Its so so so so sad. --Tan

i know how she must feel i breed show bunnies (dwarf lops ) , and two years ago a friend ( ex now ) was over with their dog who normally stayed on the back of the jeep , anyhow this day i had my shed door open but didn't think anything of it until that afternoon when i went down to feed them only to find 4 cages had been ripped open and another couple were lying dead in their cage's ( it takes one second for a rabbit to die of fright ) there was two that were saved one was in another part of the shed and my stud buck was at my mums at the time , it took me a long time to be able to walk back in the shed and it didn't help that i was 5 months pregnant at the time . Then this year i thought stuff it i know my bunnie's are good and i know my line is still out there i'll give it another go , so i had two doe's that were to be first time mothers and wouldn't know the cat across the road thought he'd cum and have a sticky beak , that upset her so she threw one outa the nest and by the time i found it was to late and she basically just destroyed the nest and killed the other two after that i was not impressed , but the good side is i've had one healthy litter since and am expecting another this friday , and people think rabbits are easy to breed ? lol

isn't it just amazing how some people with cat's or dogs just don't think of others? (dripping with anger and scarcasm there!) I've had people come over to my house with absolutely no regard for my pets with their dogs and you have to practically smack 'em down before they'll wake up to what's going on! And the cat owners near me just don't care If their cat is in my yard attacking my birds but they are really pi*%ed when I catch their cat and take it to the RSPCA cause it was! I do hope that your expecting babies grow up big and fat and healthy! I love rabbits and hate being in QLD because that was the highlight of my weekend..... going to the pet stores and cuddling all the bunnies!
