They love to roam, so a large area is better, however, if you clip their wings they can stay in pens. They are master escape artists, can jump several metres without using their wings (trust me, I have seen em do it). Eat similar to chooks. Love to roost high to sleep, and are good clibers too. They kill snakes. and they are extremely loud, especially in breeding season! hope that helps

I forgot I had some pictures from my local zoo, here is a peacock I don't know what kind it is or where its from but its beautiful. This guy was just wondering around the zoo, I am not sure where they are usually kept. I wish I could have got a picture of his tail in display

He is just a Normal Blue Indian peacock. Stunning birds aren't they?

When they have their tails fanned they look so beautiful!
I used to collect their tail feathers when I was younger - then someone told me they are actually bad luck - has anyone else heard that (as in the old wives tale)??
What sort of peacocks have you guys got?

I've heard that as well but I've heard it's only if they're inside

Yeah I've heard it too, my Mum has kept peacock feathers most of her life and to be quite honest it's a crock! I think it originates from the "eye" in the feathers LOL I haven't had any problems with mine though ( most of which came from Matt and Peters birds )
