I got some more indian ringnecks, but not sure if the guy I bought them from was spinning tales or not. Apparently there is one pair and 2 cocks, got them all cause they were cheap for the lot buy and they are plucked. What do you guys recon of the pair? hen left cock right so he says supposed hen supposed cock And this guy? on the left. right one is supposed to be a hen This one is supposed to be a cock All around the same age about 18 months old?? would love to know what you all thought, I know its hard to tell by photos but just maybe get an idea of what to keep ect

Well hard to say yet but they are a bit of a mess arent they! I wonder why they were plucking. Looks like they have stopped now anyway. I wouldnt like to guess the sexes however the 2nd last picture of the two birds together looks like the cock is on the right maybe. Sometimes the hens seem to sit lower on the perches and the cocks are more upright but thats a very rough guide. If you watch them the cocks may seem to lean over the hens or even display for them. But I wouldnt put money on a guess as it usually backfires! Its a waiting game if you don't want to pay to get them sexed. If your really impatient You can sometimes hurry things along and put them into a moult or pluck some feathers from around the necks of the birds you think are cocks. Being that they are around 18 months though you should definately see some rings appearing soon and believe me it can happen virtually overnight sometimes! One minute you think nothing is happening and the next they have their rings ;D

Dont take this as sexing in just guessing from experence !!! Both cocks i think that is why there plucking they wont to breed and they cant !!! Cock - Notice the ring starting around the neck (Guess) (Guess) Cock Blue cock Grey Hen (Guess) (Guess) Hen Buy the looks there all related as how would a guy have 5 or 6 diffrent rings at the same age ?

Hmm, ok, well for starters they aren't related cause they are from diferent places, so I know I'm safe there I was told the other day that another way of possibly sexing them visually before rings ect showing is that the females tail tends to fork out at the ends. Note the blue "hen" with the kind of ring, has a forked tail you can see it in the first pic. and she has also apparently laid eggs, but they were clear. Sorry Mark but the two in the second last pic are both grey for sure, I guess photos cant realy show things properly, and I would agree though on the sexes, the "hen" has the forked tail and the guy I got her from is more reliable than the other. And the "Cock" is starting to show a bit of a ring. The bottom one is supposed to be the cock paired to the grey hen. The old guy I bought them from seemed to know a bit more than the other guy I got the blue pair from, so very possible pair there. There is one more bird I have but I didnt get a good pic of it, Not sure on what it is either, I am thinking cock. The blue pair the grey cock and the one i dont hae a pic of were supposed to have been dna sexed before the guy got them and apparently the preious owner has the certificates. So who knows, jsut wait and see I guess

I can never understand why some people insist on keeping dna certificates when they sell the birds cos if a breeder tryed to keep it when I was gonna buy a bird from them I wouldn't buy it as it seems VERY dodgy to me.

Hmmmm, interesting!! I agree with the first picture, hen on left and cock on right. The second picture I would guess and say that the bird on the right is actually a cock and the one on the left a hen but it is really hard to tell from that pic. The last bird looks like a hen to me. I am not saying this is 100% correct but from experience with eye rings and eye shape I go with these guesses. Good luck with them! Matt
