Hi Nonnie, Peter handraised his pair from bubs. They are very easy to handraise, they take the mix very well and they grow pretty fast. As adults they make great aviary or tame birds, ours are tame but live in a huge aviary, there are pictures on this forum somewhere in the archives, possibly under the asiatic section. If you have any problems feel free to ask away as we have gone through a few things since owning them. Cheers.

Speaking of Alexandrines (and you guys are so uninventive when it comes to names 'cause Rob named our male Alex too much to my disgust) We have at 2 little pink babies now!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rob checked them on the weekend and was really chuffed at what he found. We are not disturbing them too much as they are a new pair and this is their first season. But they have been excellent since the day we got them. We originally bought 2 three year old hens from the local petshop for only $100 each and then a friend had 2 males so we did a swap with one for a 2 & 1/2 yr old male. In 4 days they were seen doing the wild thing and less than a week from themn the hen was sitting. Considering they are still in a communal avairy with at least 10 indian ringnecks I think they are doing great! Rob wants to try his hand at handraising one so we will soon have my Ekkie, My daughters cockateil (we get next week) and Robs Alex all being handraised at the same time!
