Hi Jeanette, nice pic of your ringneck. I would say at a glance that your bluey could be a male. In blue male ringnecks their beaks are always a darker color than the females, plus males have flatter broader heads whereas females have smaller round heads. This is not a 100% way to sex them this way, but can give you an indication, but by about 2 years of age the males should start to develop their black ring around their neck.

yeah he is a lovely bird that is why we chose him cause of his colour sort of has a ting of purple in too look really nice... He now talks and says his name bluey and is mumbling other words which should get clearer as he learns them a bit more he is also an alarm for when my kids wake up cause he goes off when they wake up. all round he is a funny bird LOL

Hey Jeanette- is storm giving you trouble? I hope not Naughty boy! Our ringnecks went like that when they were young - they tend to test the boundaries a bit - whats worked for us in TIME! (thus why we had to sell with our move) You just have to keep persisting with them, using extra praise when they behave the way you want them to. (Some ppl suggest to ignore it when they do bite- others say to simply say nothing but place the bird back in the cage and have "time out" (so that they associate the action of biting with being placed back inside their cage)- this only works of course if your bird wants to come out of his cage. Also just some other tips that i am sure you already know but are worth the mention anyway- make sure you always approach with your hand from below the bird not above, talk to your bird to let it know you are there before putting your hand in the cage, make sure you are not wearing anything that may frighten the bird (it sounds a little silly but things like caps and certain colours can make a bird think you are a predator and thus they attack. Hope some of this helps I am in no way an expert on this just repeating tips that we were told when we first started. ;D (just another thing we were told is that especially with ringnecks they need attention given to them regularly as sometimes they can go a bit nasty if they are unhandled for long periods of time- don't know how true this is for all ringnecks though ) If you want some more information I have a few articles on training techniques and other things that i can email to you. Good luck!!!!

hi gelz!!! Storm is doing fine going through a biting stage as well at the moment. I can Hand feed him now which is great because before he used to be a bit scared. He is starting to make some whistles that bluey does so soon they will be in sequence LOL...... Yeah send me some info on training etc... As if they get too bitey i get scared and then only hubby pics them up...LOL.
Did you find your dog???

heY! Haven't found a dog yet- not looking for me (looking for my parents) - but if it might just find its way to our new flat when we get it) Glad to hear storm is improving -will send information tmrw (am too lazy to search for it right now) Was santa good for you? (I am very sad I didn't get a birdy! hehehe. It's good that he's starting to whistle and stuff already (he could turn out to be a real talker if you keep it up!). Keep me up to date on how it goes. CiaO
