OMG You guys aren't gonna believe this. I had all the birds outside on the veranda and I was inside pottering around and playing on the pc. Anyway I heard this rattling at the screen door which has half the flyscreen ripped off by the puppy. I got up to look thinking it was the pup and there climbing up the INSIDE of the door was Cheeky one of my rainbow lorikeets who had managed to escape out of the cage and walk across the veranda and climb in through one of the holes in the screen door. I couldn't believe it. I don't know how long she was out of her cage but I brought everyone in just in case there was another escape attempt. LOL

Through one of the feed doors as it was loose when I went out to bring the cages in. She must have really worried at it as its fairly tight when its closed and with these guys I always check they're closed properly cos I was warned that lorikeets are good escape artists. LOL

We had a similar incident here about 2 months back. One of our Brown Head Parrot babies got out of the cage and walked over to where our babies were. Climbed into the tub with the Peach Front Conure babies and actually bit 3/4's of the upper beak off one off one of the Peach Fronts.

Its so scary when the birds decide its out time, and you don't know about it. Glad you found cheeky in time

Glad it turned out ok, I hate it when tame birds get out, they have no idea how to survive.

All of my cages are wired or zip tied closed. The quaker opens his doors in a second (we watched him) and he makes NO sound while doing this. Rosella's are also very intelligent and will not play with the door but will watch you and then open it first go!
