I am looking at getting a lorikeet and was wondering which one makes the best pet. What are the pro's and con's of the different kinds, rainbows, musks, scaleys etc.

Well I've met a musk before and their call is like a baby birds....high pitch cry and would get rather annoying! The owner actually set it's cage up at the back of their yard! I guess it depends on the size and colour that you want...you want a monkey go a scaley or a rainbow. Musks are very small but just as full of beans as a rainbow. All tend to bond with just one person so be prepared if they don't bond with you. I'm sure other owners will be able to add here I'd personally love a blue fronted rainbow.....only cause my fave colour is blue! that and they are pretty

All of them seem pretty similar in personality, noise and mess to me!
They are all great little birds!

I love Lorries!! Rainbows are total clowns!! So if you want entertainment and colour go for a rainbow! Scalies are just as full of personality but on a smaller and not as colourful scale. And they aren't quiet as noisy as a rainbow. These two are ALOT cheaper than the other species to! And you would be more likely to come across handraised alot easier!!! I can't say what the others are like as I have never had experience with them. All are messy though as they are nectar eating birds, just a hint though, try them on lorrie pellets, seems to "harden" the poo a bit more. My choice would be a rainbow!! Look how cheeky they are!!
