Well we couldnt sleep Friday night so we ended up getting up at 2.30am and drinking coffee until 4.15 when we could leave to pick up Holly, About 4 1/2 hours later we were in Perth and what a horrible drive. The first 2 hours were spent driving through thick fog/frost and just missed a roo by about an inch (holly swears I run over its tail but I didn't!
First stop saw Holly buying 3 of the cutest little lovebird chicks to raise and that kept her happy for the rest of the day. Also purchased a beautiful Opaline Red-rump Cock to bring home for my father-in-law (which he thought was the bees-knees!)
Stop number 2 found us at the best, nicest, cleanest avairies i have seen so far and we spent a few hours absolutely drooling over the beautiful birds there. We got away with 5 indian ringnecks and another 2 red-rumps which are all stunning each and every one.
Pitstop number 3 was matt and Peters zoo, i mean house! and we all got to tell Tibor how beautiful he/she? is to which I sure the reply was "I know that already silly". It is obvious who is the star attraction and leader of the pack at that house and alas it is NOT Peter or Matt I'm afraid ;D
we also got to meet Amber the horse and all the other lovely birds etc so Thanks to matt and Peter for showing us around.
Then it was back into the car and a couple of quick stops to replenish our wallets (which were VERY empty by this stage!) and our stomachs (which had been forgotten in the excitement of the day) re-fuel the car and head home. Another 4 hour trip and we were in Albany about 7.30pm.
WOW what a day, we ended up about $1500 poorer for the day but it was well worth it.....Now back to work to ask the boss for some overtime!
