My stupid bloody kaks have once again killed one of the babies. The biggest one!!! It looks as thought they starved it to death, it had a very empty crop and you could see its bones through the skin. The other one had an empty crop as well, but I have now pulled it from the nest and I will hand raise it. What temp should I have the brooder at?? And how often should I feed it? Every 3 or 4 hrs?? It is now about 2 weeks old I think?? Just starting to get pin feathers through. I thin I will get rid of mum and get another one to replace her after she hatches this nect egg.

Yeah, bout every 3 - 4 hrs, Just check when it's crop empties completely. Hope everything goes alright.
Also, if it's their first clutch, she may just be learning.

I would give her another chance, it may just be a learning curve. 3- 4 hrs sounds good to me, i hope everything works out

Hope all goes well with the hand feeding, the parents are probably learning what needs to be done and many birds have unsuccessful first clutches, if this becomes a regular occurance however, I would consider swapping the hen around. Good luck with the baby!

Yeah they might be still learning, I will give them another go see how they go. It is disapointing, especially when they killed the older one it was doing sooooo well!!! The baby I pulled is doing well, so hopefully it will continue, and the parents will do beter next time.

The pair did breed mutation babys. I am 100% sure of that after seeing the pics of the dead bub, so it would be good to see if they will breed some more

Yeah, the last big one they starved had the white toe nails, an the one I am handraising has white toe nails also, but they both had the grey fluff, it would be great if they produce some more of the white fluff ones!! Maybe if I pull the next lot anyway and handraise them, might have more of a chance of having some survivors?? But then they wont learn how to do it themselves.

Fingewrs crossed for you, I would guess the babies with grey down and some white toe nails are split pied and perhaps those with white down are pied.
