They make me sick I am really glad you posted this LB, I was honestly going to do it myself today! Freaky. To those on the forum who live in areas with them, I would like to know what they are like I have seen one in a jar, and would hate to have them living on my property. I really do hope they can stop them comming to WA. They just destroy entire ecosystems. even their tadpoles are poisen.

what do you want to know? They grow big... live in burrows eat anything that fit's in their mouth including mice and birds. They kill fish in ponds just by swimming in the water. Dogs attack them and get poisioned. So if your dog starts foaming at the mouth you know they have chewed on one. If your dog does chew on one in front of you wash their mouth out with water. Ummmm what else???

OH also all those old wives tails about Bleach, dettol etc killing them is a crock!!! It just hurts them it doesn't kill them I've been told a bucket of metho is a good way to kill them but I haven't tried it. I've seen them run over by a truck.... they swallow their guts and hop off again!

They are not nice creatures at all!!! A good friend of mine bought a staffy pup off me when I was breeding, the dog at only about 2 years of age ate a cane toad and ended up with epilepsy from the poisoning. The fits were kept at bay by medication, but after only a year or so, the poor dog ended up having to be put to sleep because the medication stopped working and she fitted continuously. So even if a toad doent kill the dog or cat striaght away, it still can have a nasty affect. I live in surburban area so am lucky enough not to have them around my place! Probably will soon though if this horrid drought doesnt break!!

They are sooooo revolting. I heard that the military in NT has been asked to help stop them coming here as they have so much land that is restricted to normal people that a lot of the measures being taken won't be as effective with all of this inaccessible land.

Can't stand them. I will be very upset if they get into WA, and ruin its natural ecosystems. and if they come near my dogs! I hope they can discover a biological means of killing them, and just them.

That would be the ideal solution Peter, they just gotta find one.

How often do you see them in your back yards?
If they get here, I will seriously start a group that goes out at night times and catches them and freezes their sorry arse. I am not cruel to animals, but the only way to deal with these animals is to kill them!

nearly every night... I know where their burrows are too. Just go to the second hand dealer and buy an old freezer. The only problem is that they breed faster than you catch them! That and QLD is sooo blaze` about them, some people actually fight for their rights to life LMAO

ok amanda.......... I can't believe people are fighting for the single most destructive pest we have in australia. What about all the poor innocent NATIVE animals that are becoming endangered because of the cane toad. The thing that makes me more angry is that the aust. Gov. at the time said to the cane farmers that they were not allowed to bring the cane toad in to try and kill the cane beetle. But what did the farmers do anyway (remembering at the time it wasn't illegal to bring what ever animals you like in from other countries)? More fool the farmers, once the toads got here, they decided to feast on every other little creature in their path, but not the cane beetle. clap clap clap to the cane farmers! They should be the ones funding the fight against the cane toad!
