A friend of mines cat has been scratching like hell for a few weeks now, i just thought it was a reaction to a new flea collar they put on her, but then their baby guinea pig looked like it had been scratching its back i couldnt find any fleas on either the cat or the pig, then i thought it might be lice there is a tree over the pigs cage and the cat is always lying under it and rolling in the dirt underneath, could it be lice??
i know some people say that if there is a tree over a chook pen then the chooks will get lice.
if soo how do you reccomend treating the lice and gettting rid of them?
I just feel so sorry for the poor cat and guinea, please help, my friend is desperate!

I have not heard of lice in cats. You would think the flea collar would deal with them if they were there??? Is she scratching near her ears? If so it could be ear mites???

Yrah I was going to say the same thing. I've never heard of lice in cats and I've had cats all my life. Mites would be my bet for both the cat and piggie.

Cant say I've heard of lice in either G.p's or cats either. Perhaps a good wash for them both might help, using some good pet shampoo that could treat mite etc.
