These are pics of three of my four boys. I use to have 9 but most have passed due to age this spoilt male lives in my big tank. The other male who is almost black lives in a net in this tank too. (that's my beautiful pearlscale angelfish next to him, I'll post about him later) This little horror lives with the goldfish. I don't recomment keeping them with goldfish unless their temperament is as gentle as this one otherwise the fighter will kill your other fish! And this guy is very old, he lives in his own home on my coffee table and is very sociable. We have had him for almost 2 years and he was mature when we got him.

wow! you must really like them! I have had about 10 or so throught the last few years, but some never live past 6months I think it had something to do with getting picked on by other fish. my angels would eat the fins so no more angels

Yeah it's difficult to put them in with others. A lot of people believe they should be kept in small containers, you try living in a small box! If you read up on them they are surface breathers who live in stagnant pools of water in their homeland. It doesn't say they live in stagnant pools of 500ml! A tank of 25 to 30L is much better than a little tub, especially if it gets really hot in summer. Angels are very agressive fish That's why I will not purchase anymore for my tanks.I've got one angel that's so beat up You can't have fighters in with most fish because they will protect their territory and beat up everyone else. You do get some who are really nice and cohabit with other fish really well. Their fins are a problem with other fish, all long and tasty looking! I love fighters especially the blue ones. I've had peacock blues, green blue iridescent ones, white ones , purple ones...love their colours but one little word of advice.... DON'T PURCHASE THE SUCTION CAP BETTA CONTAINERS! THEY ARE A WASTE OF MONEY, OTHER FISH KNOCK THEM OFF, AND THEY ALWAYS FALL TO BITS!!!! I have so many and it's not funny when you've got 4 or 5 in a tank and they fall off big tank, lots of fighters, bad joojoo

The boy in the top with the angels died last night. He had no apparant physical problems but he was huge so I'd say it was old age. Were the ones you were purchasing big fish or very small. Some stockists will sell much older fish hence why they don't last very long. Some are also kept in poor conditions and die from bad water. I had one who died because of stress. Transit and then a new tank then into another bag and another new tank can really get to a little guy. I just can't seem to keep simple things like guppies mollies or swordtails anymore. I just don't know why but they just die on me, never did before moving up here!

What a shame amanda! Bet it was old age, they aren't suppose to live long! Have you ever bred them before?
