JAP QUAILS Ok i have 2 males and 3 females. i know that cos they are different colours when i bought them, but i cant see any physical differences just by looking at them. can anyone tell me how i can tell the difference in a more technical way?, or if there is a website out there that can tell me? thanks

i was once told by a jap quail breeder the only way to tell the difference really is the call that males make and sometimes they have a diff colouring in their face

the differance is the colour in the face, say with the browns 4 example the females head is all brown, and the male has a bit of cream on his face from what i rememba with mine kinda like the weeros i guess

You can normally sex them from thier colour, but the problem is they come in several colour varieties now that it makes it harder! The best method is to observe the male making the typical call or trying to tread the hen. Maybe a search of the internet will come up with some pictures or ideas on sexing that may help? Good luck!
