I still can't understand why they are called Red Rumps .... an no Peter, your theory wasn't quite what I had in mind!!! LOL

they are called "red rumps" as the male of the species has a "red rump" red meaning red and rump meaning lower back area where the juicey meat is found.....i mean..... just like a "crimson wing" or "red wing" has a "crimson wing" or "red wing" lol even though the females do not have these markings. But some of the colour mutations change the colour of the rump! ie blue/grey - the rump becomes white

Yes, yes, you are getting one pair now....hurry up and come get them.... Send some my way Matt. I got a few pairs at the moment. I'm wanting new pairs. Lutino Male + Cinnamon Hen. Normale/Split Blue Male & Normal/Split Blue Hen - they throw 1 blue Baby out of every 4 that hatch. Opaline Male & Normal/split opaline hen Normal/split blue Male & Blue Opaline Hen. A friend out here breeds Red Rumps and has about 20 odd pairs. He has a Lutino OPaline or Rubino. Can't remember what he calls them but I'll ask nicely and see if he will let me take some pics of this pair. He's got about 20 red rump eggs in the boxes at the moment so he may not let me this time.. I'll ask though.

Yay! For the first time ever I feel our birds are better than justins!
Sorry to say it justin, but those colour mutations are just lame....lol
Mutations I was wanting to work on and are in our reach of breading are pied cinnamon blue or grey opaline,
My mate bred a greygreen lutino lime opaline! That was preety specky!
but lutino opaline is just boring now days!!!!
