I have been thinking about selling my Weeros and getting a pair of PaleHeaded Rosella's... Or should I sell the Weeros and the Rosella and breed something else? But what!?!?!? That is where I need some opinions... What do you think I should breed. I have a licence, so there is no problem if the birds require one... They will be living in my cockatiel avairy, which is L2.8m x W1.5m x H2m... and the birds need to be able to share it with a pair of quails on the bottom... Thanks. LB

Are you not keen to keep the Weero's? I know you have said in the past that they very rarely breed - but what about getting another couple and see what happens?

Well my budgies need their aviary back... as the rosella is in the other side... I seperate my male and female budgies. I need more avairies but can't have any, plus I don't have any room left... I was thinking if I sell the weeros then I can move the rosella into that aviary with a friend, or I sell the rosella... and keep the weeros... I have also kinda grown out of weeros... Josh (my boyfriend) also suggested selling the weeros and the rosella and get more Red Rumps... as they are one of my new favourite birds... Budgies will always be number one! I was think maybe a Blue pair...

Yeah I'd go with selling the weero's. You may fall back in love with them later on in a couple of years. You can't go past Red rumps..they are easy to breed. Rosella's are a little more complex in their personalities and it may take a lot longer to get them to breed. I have the Aussie birdkeeper book on Rosies and some of the species are very difficult to establish a compatable pair. With the red rumps you can find it easier

plus with the red rumps when it isn't breeding season you can put all the males in one cage and all the females in another. with rosella's its harder, cause the males will fight most of the time. but with the grassies without the females there is no real reason to fight, so they most of the time just get on.

I also think kakarikis as there also good surriegent parents for most other bird eggs!!!! Or if you can conures as there good breeders and produce a lot of young. EG: i pair of green cheeks can produce 12-30 young a season $$$$$$$

They don't go too well in my experience. Red rumps and rosella's are aggressive birds. They will fight for territory in a cage with others and generally do better as a pair alone.

Littlebudgie - i thought after our discussion today you were gonna go with your other half and get 'birds' not 'tools' - I'm guessing by the lack of pics of new purchase that the tools won out - hehe??

I like the yellow conures Peter and Matt have... They are cute... But then again... I would like a blue pair of Red Rumps... I was thinking if Red Rumps can breed together okay, I could probally have two pairs in the aviary as it is quite big... But if I get conures them it will be one pair in there... ...Red Rumps or Conures...

if you get the conures young and under 2 years you can coliny preed them so you can have more than 1 pair in a aviary
