WOW Bubbles, what part of AUS are you In? I need to move there.... must be something in the water or the weather. Congrat's I could have put the box back in for my red rumps but it was getting too hot and they were beating up the first clutch so I'll wait until next season. It was their first year anyway

yes i have 2 pair of blue stanleys. i got one baby out of each nest box. the parents are only 1 year old so i was happy they both bred. i had another 4 babies die in the nest from the 2 pairs. it is only my first year breeding them so i don`t really know how long it takes. but i believe it takes nearly 6 months for them to moult and determine if they are hens or cocks. they all look like hens until they moult then the cocks get there white heads in the blues.
i`m going to get them dna tested next week to find out for sure.

sometimes you can tell by their head size or buy their tails etc but you need to be an experienced breeder to really see the differences! I agree LB, you feed the little sods and look after them and this is how they repay you At least my chooks are doing really well, had to have eggs for dinner cause we have 4 dozen in the fridge

Hi just thought I would say that so far I have had a great season. I have had ringnecks, budgies and tiel babies. The tiels have done the best so far with 16 babies the first time and I now have 21 new baby tiels from the second clutch from 5 breeding pairs. ;D ;D ;D ;D
