Hi ya Megan Great to see a froggie enthusist here I'm not current with your licensing system over there but they should have a current list of what you can/can't keep on the wa enviro groups (sorry don't know their name but the equivalent to Parks and wildlife) website, they should have their website details with your license info or technically you SHOULD get it with your licence but 99% of the time they don't! The best book I have found is Keeping frogs by Mark Davdson. It's an aussie book with the most commonly kept aussie species. Its ISBN No is 0975820001. It is a great book, general husbandry etc. The other one I have is Frogs as pets by Michael J Tyler, ISBN 0646286080. It's about keeping Green tree frogs. The common species kept are your GTF's (litoria caerulea), white lipped frogs (litria infrafrenata), red eyed tf's (litora chloris). others are sometimes available like the dainty and the grass frog. The hardest thing you will find is a breeder to aquire one or two. That was what initially stopped me from going further, For the life of me I couldn't find anyone!

Thanks Amanda,
I will access the website and see what my license wil let me keep. I will also have a hunt around for those books, I have found a few breeders, but before jumping into buying anything i want to do alot of research. Frogs are lots different from the animals i have kept!!!

keeping frogs is a lot like keeping reptiles, get the temp right and do some feeding and spot cleaning and ta dah.... oh so easy to keep. small problems with keeping them are temp; keeping the right temperatures for them moisture levels basking spots; making sure they have lots of spots to sit at different levels to the UVB lighting... the closer the better then they can regulate it themselves. Hidey holes are a must too! food; making sure they eat their food and removing the excess, also supplements of calcium and sometimes vitamins. You should be able to source those books on the net, I just happened to find them in a pet store when I visited brisbane You've got the hardest part done, finding a breeder is the most difficult part of it all. The fun part is making their home. If you have any problems or questions just give me a bell On a different topic I have a Dainty ree frog who has adopted our back verandah as his brumation home for the winter. He's been here for over a month, sitting in the same spot Soooo cute, will definately take pics for you all

Hey,
We have a frog here, its a green tree frog, not sure what species exactly, Matt will help you with that! I know sparkles has 4 frogs too. You only need Cat 2 I believe for them, but we have Cat 3 for the python too.
I have found the cheapest place to get your frog is from a pet magic shop.
Amanda has hit the nail on the head with keeping them

The species we have is Litoria caerulea (or northern green tree frog). One of the most widely kept species in WA. They are relatively easy to maintain once you get the setup right. Amanda did an excellent job of describing the housing conditions, but everyone does things differently to suit thier own home environment. You need to experiment a little to get the right setup to suit your conditions. Good luck with the research!

Thanks for all the info guys! i have been busily researching- i suppose the temp control etc would be similar with what i have to do with the turtles and snakes (wildlife rescue snakes), i have been trying to hunt for some books but whne i go to perth i might drop into a few reptile and amphibian shops and see what i can find regarding info
