The birds certainly look beautiful but I sure hope the avairies are bigger than they look in the pictures. It looks like they hardly have room to stretch their wings. Maybe the pictures don't do his avairies justice but this is all I can think about when I see pictures of Macaws in captivity.

How cool are the Yellow Collars did you see the size difference between the Greenwings & Blue & Golds. Those last 2 in thebottom pic are actually Severe Macaws. Very cool little birds but huge on the attitude. Jen: One thing I've found with the Macaws over here is that no matter how large the flight is most prefer to waltz along their perches or climb along the edge of the wire to reach the other end of the flight. I have one of our Blue & Gold Pairs in a 8ft long x 4ft high & 4ft wide flight. the female will fly from end to end but the male just climbs along. Peter: I'm begging to wonder about you.... always wanting to break into others aviaries rofl.

Thanks for that Justin
He had the 3 Hahns sub species i can not tell the difference since i dont have much experence with Macaws at the moment
He had the
Hahans Millatery Severe Yellow Collars Bue & Gold Green Wing
The strange thing i found was that he only had 1 pair of Green Wings
They were kept in aviaries 6 meters long 2 meters wide 3 meters high with a 2 meter suspended section at one end
As soon as i get the chance ill post more pic's

Thanks Eagle & Justin, I did say they pictures probably didnt do the avairies justice. Its just one of those things I always think about. I love all our birds but I will always prefer to see birds in the wild rather than in avairies. I know many people who dont think like I do and always stress on the "recommended size" of avairies but growing up surrounded by so many wild birds it is always in the back of my mind and I guess I'm a bit of a greeny at heart. Rob often talks about getting a pair of Macaws one day but I always answer with there is no way until you build a massive avairy to house them in.

I think the best we can do as both breeders and companion owners is to provide the best possible envrionment for our birds as we can. While nothing beats watching a Black too fly free or watching Greenwing Macaws glide over the treetops, giving them the best to ensure they're happy and content in capitivity knowing that I've got happy birds here is almost as gratifying.
