Ok so there is a green tree bush thing on the verge of the block next door that has just sprouted yellow balls of fluff things on it ... Wattle??? Bird friendly? I could get pics if that will help???

Sounds like wattle (acacia) but pics would help. Acacias are safe for birds.

As jules said, the sound like acacia's which are fine for birds. They're flowering everywhere at the moment.

We went to bel's house on the weekend. It is acacia! and it is good for them! There are hundreds near where she lives. Must be where it got it's name from.
