If anyone is ever interested in buying chickens I breed the following varieties! Rhode Island Red: Good dual purpose breed. Ancona: Good laying breed (plus they are pretty). Silver Spangled Hamburg: Good laying and looking breed! Bantam Partridge Wyandotte: Best backyard layer. Peacock: Decided that he wanted his picture taken too!

They are all lovely. I really like the RIRs and another of my faves is the gold laced wyandottes.

Ha ha Karen, they are tasty, we used to raise our own roosters for culling, much tastier than ones from the shop as they are not pumped full of steroids and antibiotics... We do not do it anymore beacuse it is alot of time and work and I am too important now...LOL.

MATTHEW You guys PROMISED me you only did it once. Didnt we decide that it was fine to eat meat - so long as you didn't raise it yourself. I'm verrryyyyy disappointed in you two

LOL, bel if you met our grandparents (who came from farming and/or Itialian background, who were very poor and had to kill and eat their own animals all the time.) you'd know where we get it from. lol. we decided it was ok for YOU to eat meat only if you didn't know it!

Tibor is fine holly. Belinda is just in this imaginary world where she owns him, and not me.
We are not going to eat the lamb! although it is getting uglier every day! lol (ps, bel will wonder where the lamb is at the BBQ, while all us meat heads are chewing on the meat round the BBQ) JJ
And lastly, we spent yesterday building a big new yard for the goats and sheep, and the fence looks good enough to get deer! lol, so matt and I were arguing weather we should get deer, or kangaroos, or emus, or ostriches or whatever else....... dad just stood there shaking his head, and promised to get the gun out if any of them did step foot on the property.
