Here are the ladies of the family - believe me they act like it! They are very needy girls - I had to start keeping the back sliding door closed when they are out of their pen because they were taking the liberty of coming inside - they have a whole big yard to run around in and they prefer the house! I love it though - they get along great with the dogs and the cats so as you can imagine is a bit mad here at times!

;D Hahaha I can totally understand where you are coming from!! My girl, Steggels, thinks she is more special than anything else!! I had to block the cat door so she would stay outside! She would come in and look for the kids!! She seems to think she is a dog! I now have a second chicken so it might make her relise that shes not a dog! This is Steggels (on the right) Unfortunatly Ingham( on the left) is no longer with us.

Love their names, and they are so cute - mine are Crispy, Red and CT (chicken treat) - its too hard to resist! And I hear you on the dog/cat door - they have found it, but not sure what to do with it yet!
They follow me around everywhere and just love human company - and I love having them out of their (very large) pen - I just wish they didn't poop so much - on the lawn or in the garden is cool because its great fertilizer - but right at the back door - ahhhhh what the hell - it hoses off!
I love em and could watch them for hours - they can be real characters!

It was very funny!! The kids love thier chooks and love to get the eggs! They usually fight over whos going to collect them, lol.

Hey Peter - yeh they really are good looking chickens hey - they are big and healthy and hold themselves really nice. However in having said that - they seem to be losing a few feathers at the moment - I'm not sure if it's a molt they are going through?? - they are about 8 months old now I guess. When I took those pics they were 5 months old - big birds hey!
Natenla - hehe - I can relate to that as well. Mine aren't chickens - they are humans. Today I was cleaning out my bed room and forgot to shut the back door and could hear this funny noise coming down the hall and next thing you know I turn around and one of the girls was in my bedroom - cheeky little buggers. Its funny though because I just talk to them like they are human and they obey - she turned around and wandered back out!

No Peter They are Welsummers actually, beautiful colours and patterns. This is Steggels This is Ingham, she is now sadly in chicken heaven I only have the one of them now, but I bought a cross breed from some markets 2 weekends ago. She fits in reallywell! A bit scruffy and all but she will come good with someTLC Poor baby I felt really sorry for all the chickens they had there, all hot and panting, I would have got the lot if I could have had them!!! All Hen pecked ect. The one I got "Belle" she is a real character! Likes to get in the sandpit with the kids to play, another chook that's thinks its not a chook,LOL!! This is Belle HEHE she is another one that thinks she should be inside, very friendly bird!! And yes those are some big chickens for 5 months old Sparkles!!!

My dog is 10 now and he had never been around chooks either till I got mine only 12 mths or so ago, and he wanders around the yard with them all day! I was VERY suprised considering he can be rather nasty toward other animals. So you never know?!
