They can lose condition incredibly quickly but it seems to take forever for them to put it back on. AS for the gut problems, I agree with Matt. Yoghurt is a natural probiotic which helps with gut problems and I know people use it on their cavies, I haven't used it for the cavies but I have used it successfully for rabbits. Matt And Peter have you used it?

We have never used yoghurt, I only use vetafarm probiotics if I want to increase it in their gut for whatever reason, U can sprinkle it on greens or put it in the water!

Just a quick update on Spike, he is still pretty thin but is eating more every day, he really loves celery. We are going to keep the boys apart from now on, in case Angel does it again. Thank you to everyone for your advice.

You are welcome. I am glad to hear that he is improving. It sounds like it is a good idea to keep them apart. It sounds like Angel is very dominant and Spike is very submissive.
