I use tiel box for my red rumps and it recommends to use a lovie box for them too id try tiel boxes and A frame boxes and see what they like, personally i think the lovebird boxes are too small but try it any way.

We use Cockatiel boxes for our red rumps.
Our friend who breeds Red Rumps uses next boxes that are 3ft deep and 12 inch square with great success too.
What kind of birds use the A Frame boxes?

Ok cool, I am getting my boyfriend to make some up for me at work. I told him to make the kaks boxes 30cm x 30cm x 50cm H, and the redrumps 20 x20 x 40. So I hope they like them!!! The lady I got my new RR from was breeding hers in budgie boxes!! With success, but I think it is too small. I was thinking maybe that is what happened to Turveys neck? He could have gotten a bit squashed by his siblings???

Ummm Princess parrots (alexandria or princess of wales..can't remember what they're called over there) A lot of people also use them with birds that tend to be heavy footed...ie jump down onto the eggs and crush them or the babies.

Alot of birds like blum heads, ringnecks ect like the A frame boxes as its apparently closer to what is normally used in the wild as hollows in trees tend to becme wider,

I found this link and even though it is to sell nest boxes, I have used some of the different designs to make my own nest boxes. At least the pics give you an idea of different styles, dimensions and what birds suit what nest box. www.birdsetc.com/

Nest boxes are such a funny thing because you can have bred birds 100 times using one type of nest box, buy another pair of birds and they will not touch the nest box you have decided for them, i know my tiels will not nest in a cube box as recommended on that website, we had cube boxes in as well as the long ones and they never even went near them. i think just try many boxes and see which one works, when i buy a pair of birds i normally try to get a look at the box they were breeding in and buy the same. I wish my boyfriend was a cabinet maker...hes just a stupid baker...lol
