Ryley My Mollucan Too

Hi Everyone,

I think I've introduced Ryley before. If not then here he is. Ryley is 13 years old. We've had him here for about 14 months now.
Ryley didn't get the greatest start in life. He was purchased at a bird mart locally. Was kept in a cage that would be too small for 2 Cockatiels. He had no perches, no toys and fed only sunflower seeds.

Somewhere between being purchased at the bird mart and by the time he was 18 months he was traded for drugs and ended up in a Crack House. It was here that he's plucking started. He also started his mutilating here. If you look at his toes you will see that they curl upwards due to not being on perches.

Ryley was confiscated from the drug place and wound up through several homes before making his way to a friends place. He was very much loved here and was often used as an educational bird at shows etc. Due to the demands of a new baby Ryley made his way here.

I love having this guy around and by god he is the most incredible bird. He's the only bird of ours that I can trust with kids. He loves everyone & really hams it up for the ladies though.

He's a mess physically Jules, but emotionally he's such an amazing creature. he has Every right to be a mean horrible biting bird but he's the most loving bird you will ever want to meet. He really hams it up for the women. He'll blow kisses & will dance for you. He mumbles a ton of stuff. But the best thing he does is when he's making too much noise and you tell to give it a rest, he leans in close and whispers to you. He'll lean in and say "Hi Ry Ry" in the most sweetest voice that will melt your heart.

Kim, let me tell you....He is single handedly the most loving bird here at our home. Know's no strangers and those gorgeous brown eyes of his..... how can get mad when he screams?

He is a great bird Justin, I am glad he found his way to your place, probably one of the best places for him to be! I would be a little worried about letting him sit on that skanky leg though, he might catch something.....

The poor thing!! its so upsetting 2 hear how his life started it makes my blood boil! how people can do things like this! ull have 2 keep us updated on him! and vids would be great! i just love the 3rd photo u posted! it makes my heart melt! lol ;D

Bubbles it's said because Mollucans are such unique sensitive souls and not many understand them and as a result they end up like my Ry Ry. He no longer Mutilates thank god but he does have a scab he doesn't quite let heal yet. He's getting there and it's getting smaller.

He Can't perch all that great and when being held he needs to have your fingers clamping his feet down so that he wont fall.
