It can take a while for it to show! Google the disease, you will find lots of info on care and cage cleaning

Thy guy who is the Australian rep (boss) of MDS sexing was at the gunnedah sale and he said that they have done a LOT of research (spelling) in regards to PDF and he said that it is NOT an air born Disease so they will be fine He said that the birds have to come in direct contact with an infected bird or the un cleaned aviary the infected bird was in !!!!!

Mark, I'm sorry to hear that these birds had PBFD. I really am. It's BOBBA to go through trust me.
The sexing guy is partly right. It's not a full blown airborn disease however birds such as cockatoo's that shed a lot of down powder can shed the disease through the powder. If that powder happens to get on another bird it can give a false reading if that particular is going to be tested.

The guy that did the talk is the Australian boss of MDF sexing (South Africa)
This point came up and he said that the disseise does not present its self in dead skin cells like wot your talking about
He said that research that had been done had limited specimens to work with all the research was done over seas Now that there in Australia they have a Large number of specimens
All testing is now done with blood so it is very hard to get a false reading like the old way of sexing when you usto pull a feather out and send it in
I’m Not saying you wrong Justin im just repeating wot the MDS Australian Manager said to us in his speech at the Gunnedah Sale
