Yes he still has to get a few feathers under his tummy and a couple on his back but there is lots of wing flapping going on already.
I think its interesting looking at this recent photo taken without a flash on the camera and he has that real dark forrest green colour but in the previous picture I posted where i used a flash (same if you put him in the sun) he looks a beautiful bright irridescent green colour.

We have lift off!!!!!! Monty had a very ungraceful fly yesterday and it took him a full day to attempt it again which was hardly any more successful. Actually the take off and flight is OK, its just the sudden stop and crash landing that worries me. Here he is stretching his wings ready for another try...  |

Monty had his first bath to celebrate his flying success. He was OK with it too although i didn't soak him completely and he spent the next two hours sorting his feathers and making himself beautiful again...  |

Jen he is looking great, it is always frightening when they first take off! I always panic and cover the windows and anything shark because they crash land at quite a speed for the first week or two! You are doing an excellent job on him!

Had to share these photos i took this week. Monty just LOVES getting wet, he went in the shower and got drenched and as it was not really warm I put the red heat lamp on him and got some interesting pics. Ekkies have ultraviolet colouring which can only be seen by other birds but I think some of it is noticeable in different lights. I am gunna have to get my hands on a proper ultraviolet light one day and see what happens.   |
