The Goldies have now gone , I'll miss them but they were heading towards outgrowing my tank and i felt they needed a bigger home (which at present i cannot accomodate) Sooooooooo... The tank is in the process of being fully pulled down & cleaned, prior to setting it up again, though this time it will be a tropical community tank. There will be some live plants this time around so it will not be stocked properly (except for a few feeders to assist with cycling) until the plants have had a chance to get somewhat established. I need to get a plant light, as the tubes i have just are nowhere near strong enough for live plants. I havent as yet decided fully on what to stock it with...but some ideas so far are bristlenose (albino & normal), cory cats, platys, guppies & swordtails. I'm looking forward to the setting up process , not so much the scrubbing and cleaning *LOL*. But over the next few days it should be all ready to start the good part. Its all very exciting....pics will come once its set up and updated pics as i go along

It's a shame when they outgrow their space. Good luck with the cleaning. Have fun choosing your new inhabitants.

Yeah it is for sure The tank as been cleaned (broke the darn lids though , dropped them into the tank, so coulda been worse). Now i just gotta scrub the decor, though i think the plants will go into the bin, they are just absolutely covered in algae, and scrubbing that off is the pits *L* I'm looking forward to going back to a tropical tank, and the vast colours of livebearers should make it look lively.

Well, let me say that washing sand takes forever, and is quite hard work *LOL* Sand is in, wood all scrubbed and in, water added, heater on, airstone running, filter in but as yet not running. First pic ~ bare skeleton tank

Looks Great! I just got a six footer! But it has a crack, so its either going to be siliconned or made into a reptile tank

Siliconed works ok...depends where the crack is...and the bigger the tank, the more stress the repair will be under...be careful *L* You dont want to come home to a tankful of water on your floor
Yes it will be stocked with live plants...i have to get a double light prior to planting it though....and i'm after some malaysian trumpet snails...which are proving difficult to get my hands on to

I didnt realise i hadnt updated for so long!! I just bought new tank *L*, well i put a deposit on it any way...so it wont arrive for a few weeks yet. Its a brand new 5ft (313litres). I got it to upgrade my 4ft tank (200litres). So all this below.......(latest pic of 4ft) Will be removed and held while the changeover occurs, looking way forward to the bigger tank, but not the changeover *LOL* While i'm awaiting the new tanks arrival, i have to get a new heater & i'm hoping to be able to pick up some new rocks for it, spotted some petrified wood at a shop the other day...looked real neat. Also on the lookout for some unusual driftwood i like. The substrate will vary a bit too in the new one...still sand but i want to mix gravel or something in with it.. Pics to comeThe 4ft will then be for sale (i'd love to keep it, but i really have nowhere to put it *L*)
