hehe theyre sure hungry little buggers!! these guys are still on milk and drinking fast! its so expensive considering the bags of milk cost $80 or more depending on the brand! the good thing with ours though is that once they have a calf of their own they well and truly pay themselves off!

We buy Denkavit plus @ $100 a pop! But they are all off milk now, they had their colrrect period on it and are now onto calf gro pellets and some grain, hay and paddock feed. They grow so fast you can see the difference each morning I rekon, more that they are growing outwards....haha.

The steer is for meat for us and the two heifers will be on sold, actually we are thinking that we will have to sell them off in the next couple of months as things have gotten very dry around here now and we may not have alot of feed over summer.

Yeah, meat has to come from somewhere! With the heifers I am sure one is a brahma cross, it has the droopy ears and shape, the other would be a shorthorn cross or similar. Nice animals, we hand feed them so they are relatively quiet so far.

LOL @ Jules! We dont think about the meat until its in the freezer, until then just care for the animal and make sure its good quality meat for us. I hear so many bad stories about the meat you buy in the shops and we decided that it was time to be more self sufficient!
