On checking over our animals at the weekend we found that our pig had picked up a tick or two, is there anything we can do to stop them or do we just have to remove them when we find them, our horses have had a few too. We do have alot of kangaroos come visit our property so I am guessing that is where they have come from.

I cant remember how to get rid of ticks, I do recall rubbing them with petrol or diseal gets rid of them, but can irritate the animals.
Matt will probably no more
They do come from kangaroos, but not directly, they live in sand and bushes, and jump onto the animal when it makes contact

Dab a bit of malawash straight on the tick with a cotton bud, they shrivel up and drop off over a couple of days.
